Jakarta, January 13, 2025 - The Executive Director of the TIC TIMOR I.P. Agency, Mr. Venâncio Pinto, and the team held a preliminary meeting with the Ambassador of Timor-Leste, Mr. Roberto Sarmento de Oliveira Soares, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The main objective of this meeting is to discuss solutions related to the proposal for the creation of a website at the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Jakarta, providing support to improve communication and security, especially through email and the creation of the Embassy's website with Timor-Leste's own domain, in order to safeguard diplomacy and the national interests of Timor-Leste in that country.
Considering that, the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Jakarta, as a diplomatic mission of Timor-Leste, plays an important role abroad, ensuring missions in the areas of Defense, Security, Education, Commerce and Industry, Immigration, and Health.
Given the nature of this service and the need to further strengthen and improving public diplomatic communication, intergovernmental correspondence, state institutions, as well as international agencies and civil society, the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Jakarta requests support from the TIC TIMOR I.P. Agency in the area of information technology.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Indonesia, Mr. Roberto Sarmento de Oliveira Soares, stated that the IX Government has assigned a specific mandate to TIC TIMOR. Therefore, the Embassy is pleased to request assistance with the aim of developing a website with a Timor-Leste domain, including its maintenance, in order to be implemented in an efficient and effective way.
Considering that this year, the Government is making a strong effort to ensure national sovereignty, particularly not only with Indonesia, but also with other friendly countries in which Timor-Leste has established good relationship and excellent bilateral cooperation. Consequently, it is necessary to ensure means to secure these communications. Thus, the Embassy has full confidence that with the support of TIC TIMOR, in which the Government has entrusted full confidence, will be able to provide the necessary support, thereby ensuring secure and comfortable communication in the future.
We greatly appreciate the visit of TIC TIMOR to the Embassy, as it will allow them to conduct an assessment of the issue and provide a timely solution.
Furthermore, the Ambassador emphasized that they urgently need to ensure identity by using modern technologies in daily activities, in order to design within this scope.
On the same occasion, the Executive Director of TIC TIMOR, Mr. Venâncio Pinto, stated that this occasion becomes great privilege for TIC TIMOR to provide solutions related to the issues faced by the Embassy, considering that the important role of the TIC TIMOR Agency is to implement the Information and Communication Technology policy and e-Government, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 29/2017.
Consequently, it becomes imperative for TIC TIMOR in providing necessary supports to the Embassy for the utilization of the systems developed by TIC TIMOR.
On the same occasion, the Director of the Network Infrastructure Directorate, Mr. Henrique Fulgêncio Guterres, also made a presentation on infrastructure services, in order to establish a strong cooperation with the Embassy.
After the meeting, the TIC TIMOR team will conduct assessment on the existing Network Infrastructure at the Timor-Leste Consulate in Bali, Kupang and Atambua, including presentations related to technical solutions based on the results of the data survey referred to the Embassy.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Network Infrastructure Department of the Data Center, Mr. Agapito dos Santos Bareto, and the Junior Software Developer, Mr. Rivaldo Guterres.
