Díli, February 20, 2025 – The TIC TIMOR I.P. Agency, and the Information, Communication and Technology of Timor-Leste (ICT-TL), in cooperation with Trainocate from Indonesia, held an International Seminar titled 'Timor-Leste’s Digital Transformation Toward 2032.' The seminar obtained full support constant guidance of the Minister of Transport and Communications, Eng. Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu, who also served as the acting Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Coordination.
On this occasion, the Executive Director of TIC TIMOR I.P., Mr. Venâncio Pinto, emphasized the importance of embracing the Digital Era, as technology has revolutionized the world. He noted that Timor-Leste, a young nation, faces challenges in keeping up with technological advancements but also has opportunities to innovate and adapt. The seminar provided a platform to exchange ideas, introduce new digital tools, and prepare for Timor-Leste’s future role in ASEAN in 2025.
The event addressed key issues such as Data Centers, Cybersecurity, and Digitalization. It was attended by government officials, academics, private sector representatives, and other stakeholders. The acting Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Coordination, Eng. Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu, highlighted the importance of digital transformation in improving public services, economic growth, and innovation, with efforts being made to modernize public administration and digital infrastructure.
The event was attended by authorities, academics, the private sector, civil society and students, and aimed to promote collaboration between different parties to advance the country's digital initiatives. At the end, participants obtained certificates and concluded the seminar with a commitment to continue the development of technology in Timor-Leste.
