THE TIC TIMOR I.P. AGENCY HELD SENSITIZATION ON ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT IN OÉ-CUSSE


Oé-Cusse, October 10th, 2024 — The TIC TIMOR I.P. Agency conducted sensitization on the Electronic Government entitled “Revolutionizing Government with Digital Services that Promote Good Governance Improve Service Delivery for Government Employees in the Special Administrative Region of Oé-cusse Ambeno, including representatives from PNTL, F-FDTL and local authorities”.

The goal of this sensitization aims to expand and promote the digitalization services in the context of Electronic Government, from national level to the municipality, in order to introduce the IX Constitutional Government program.

During the sensitization, the acting Executive Director of Agency TIC TIMOR I.P., Mr. Justo Fernandes, who is also the Director of the Directorate for the Development of Information Systems and Applications (DDSIA) of TIC TIMOR, stated that, this program is very important for sharing technology-related information based on the IX Government Constitutional program.

“This sensitization about Electronic Government in Timor-Leste is highly relevant to the information we are presenting, it aligned with the IX Constitutional Government program, which addresses Electronic Government, Information and Communication Technology.”

The Director also introduced the existence of the Agency TIC TIMOR, established through Decree-Law N.o 29/2017, which includes three important points to be implemented in Timor-Leste particularly, in the field of technology. First, the creation of integrated plans that the Government will carry out over the next ten years, both nationally included Oé-Cusse Ambeno. Second, municipalities including Oé-Cusse will be able to access government services through a local network. Third, relating to Electronic Government that focuses on its systems.

Information presented at the sensitization includes Digital Timor, Application Systems Development, Network Infrastructure, Data Center and Cyber ​​Security.

The Director emphasized that the information shared by TIC TIMOR is not intended for employees to stop using technology but rather to improve understanding on how to utilize the technology in the workplace.

“The information we are presenting is not just for yourself to know, however, to share this knowledge with other entities, thus, be able to use  knowledge correctly and not fall into traps or become victims of technology,” stated the Director.

At the same occasion, the Regional Secretary for Administrative Affairs, Mr. Andre La’o, noted that this sensitization is extremely important for everyone, especially in a world in which increasingly immersed in the technology era, as employees need to seize the opportunities granted.

“Today, we are in a globalized world connected to public service in Timor-Leste. I greatly appreciate the IX Government program, which TIC TIMOR, as a public institution, provides us, as it is essential for bringing significant changes to the daily services of all State institutions.”

The Secretary also expressed pride and gratitude to the Timorese technicians working at TIC TIMOR, as it is necessary to create good cooperation to implement digitalization in all State institutions.

“Therefore, we clearly need knowledge, especially from our Timorese technicians present in Timor, and we must cooperate, so that everything related to technology does not harm our services. We also thank the TIC technicians who are already working in their areas in the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse, and thus we express our gratitude to the Executive Director of Agency TIC TIMOR.”

In this opportunity, participants included the Timor Digital Coordinator, Mr. Eusebio de Jesus Pinto Exposto Goveia, made presentation on their activities and plans, the Director of the Directorate of Infrastructure and Network Services, Mr. Andre Felix Marques, the representative from the Data Center, Mr. Agapito dos Santos Barreto, the Cybersecurity head, Mr. Agostinho Araújo Pereira, and the software developer, Ms. Isabel Waruily Dos Anjos Madeira.

During the sensitization activity, the Corporate Services Department of the TIC TIMOR Agency through the Director, Mrs. Helen Esmeralda Catarina Gomes, and the team also offered technical Helpdesks in which assigned to provide technical assistance in RAEOA.

Participants who were present are; the Regional Secretary of Agriculture, Ms. Filomena Sila, representatives from PNTL, FFTL, and heads of departments from Agency TIC TIMOR I.P., Regional Directors, and employees in RAEOA.
